Role details
A short course coordinator helps to effectively plan and safely deliver a UWC short course by coordinating the general programme design and monitoring quality assurance.
As a coordinator, you will work closely with UWC Cyprus’ Educational Projects Coordinator and support them in curricular development, logistics and outreach, and safeguarding and risk management. You will be part of a collaborative environment. Working together with an international team of facilitators from different backgrounds, you will have the chance to develop your leadership and teamwork skills.
Curricular development:
Develop the high-level programme and learning experience of the course. You will design and decide on learning outcomes and learning assessment. You will assist and coach more junior facilitators in the delivery of facilitation activities.
Prior to the course, you will assist in the design of workshops and activities, bringing in your own interests and skills.
Logistics and outreach:
Coordinate and implement practical elements of the short course, including venue, catering and transportation. You will organise relevant field trips and guest speakers that enrich the short course experience and offer opportunities for community engagement. Using your knowledge of the local context, you will help assure the learning programme is nuanced and relevant.
Safeguarding and risk management:
Assure the health and safety of the participants and facilitators. You will help implement the UWC Standards for Safeguarding and a course-specific Safeguarding policy. You will ensure that all participants and facilitators have a proper understanding of safeguarding and are able to respond to any concerns or issues with discretion and care.
Coordinators take a step back from the day-to-day facilitation of the workshops and instead provide space and support for the facilitator team.
What we’re looking for:
● Affinity with UWCs mission and values
● A passion for education and delivering UWC’s theory of change
● Experience working with high school youth
● Affinity with and knowledge of the Mediterranean region
● Problem solving, care and diligence in addressing participant concerns
● Emotional maturity, listening ability and fairness
● Effective communication and facilitation skills
● Experience in facilitation, public speaking and/or teaching
● Experience in managing a team and/or training trainers
● Pro-activity and responsiveness
● Enthusiasm and dynamism
● Resident of Cyprus or have lived in Cyprus for several years with a strong understanding of the local context and familiarity with the place.
● Working language skills in English; knowledge of Greek or Turkish a plus
