Application requirements
General Eligibility Criteria for All Applicants
Applicants need to fulfil the following criteria:
- Are permanent residents of Cyprus;
- At least one of the parents is of Cypriot nationality;
- Must have attended school in Cyprus for at least five years (cumulatively);
- Must currently be enroled in year 10 or 11 for the 2024-2025 academic year;
- Must have been born between 1st August 2007 to 31st August 2009.
General Conditions for All Applicants
- If selected for the second stage of the selection process, applicants must attend the selection workshops in person on the specified dates when these will take place.
- Applicants must complete the health disclosure form as part of the online or written application form.
- Scholars are responsible for obtaining insurance coverage for the duration of their stay in the host country, including health insurance that also covers serious health or welfare issues that may arise after their arrival in the host country.
- Scholars are expected to attend the events (i.e. pre-departure meetings, debriefing sessions, network events, focus groups, etc.) organised in the framework of the EU-UWC Scholarship Programme.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS TO PROVE ELIGIBILITY
All applicants will be asked to upload the required documents listed below on the online portal for their application to be valid, before the application deadline. The documents can be in English, Turkish or Greek. No translation is required.
- A copy of the applicant's birth certificate;
- A copy of the applicant’s identification card
- A copy of the applicant’s passport (optional);
- Copy of ID card or passport of one of the parents issued by the Republic of Cyprus;
- A copy of the certificate of residence proving the applicant’s current valid address as stated on the online application form;
- Proof of enrolment to the 2024/25 academic year: A copy of the transcript for the last finalised semester or an official document obtained from the applicant’s school/ education authorities proving the applicant’s enrolment to the 2024/25 academic year of study;
- Proof of 5 years education in Cyprus: Official document(s) obtained from school/ education authorities proving that the applicant studied cumulatively at least 5 years full time in a primary or secondary school or educational institution in Cyprus. If the applicant is enrolled for the 2024/25 academic year in a school or educational institution, the current academic year will count towards the 5 years required.
Important Notes
Scholars will be selected to study at a UWC college for the period of 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2027.
The UWC Cyprus application process will be managed through our online portal. A passport size photo, as well as all relevant eligibility documents (see above) will need to be uploaded on the portal while submitting the application form.
The deadline for submitting the online application along with the required eligibility documents is Sunday 12 January 2025, by 23.59 hours Cyprus time. Our online portal will be automatically closed for applications after this time.
