Role details

The Safety and Wellbeing Coordinator will work closely with the Short Course Organiser and Coordinators to protect the physical and mental health of participants and facilitators during the course. You will monitor the implementation of the UWC Standards for Safeguarding and design a course-specific Safeguarding policy. You will ensure that all participants and facilitators have a proper understanding of safeguarding and are able to respond to any concerns or issues with discretion and care.

As the Safety and Wellbeing Coordinator, you will be primarily responsible for the safety of participants and facilitators, which includes ensuring their physical well-being by providing first aid if needed or accompanying them to a hospital or medical center

Please note that this role focuses on pastoral care - the coordinator will not be involved in the delivery of the course curriculum but instead will be responsible and available for participant support, should issues arise. When there are no such issues, you are free to participate in workshops or engage in other personal activities or tasks outside the sessions.

You will be part of a collaborative environment. Working together with a local and an international team of facilitators and participants from different backgrounds, you will have the chance to develop your leadership and teamwork skills.

What we’re looking for:

● Affinity with UWCs mission and values

● A passion for education and delivering UWC’s theory of change

● Experience in a counsellor, pastoral care, or related role for a high school audience

● First Aid certified

● Emotional maturity, listening ability, and fairness

● Problem solving, care and diligence in addressing participant concerns

● Effective communication and facilitation skills

● Pro-activity and responsiveness
